ONGOING classes are held at Riley Art Supply store: 

"Alla Prima Spirited Still life and Landscape"  Oil and Acrylic Classes held at Riley Street, Maxwell Ct., Santa Rosa,   Wednesdays, 1-3 pm.  $125.00 per 4 week month.  ONGOING CLASSES. Alla Prima is an Italian word for painting "Wet into Wet'' in one to two session.This is a fun class to learn simplicity and spontaneous painting.  Each month I coordinate a specific lesson, such as various use of brush strokes. color mixing, values, composition, etc. with demos and one on one help. You will find this an informative class with steps to create a still-life painting using traditional oil or water mixable oils or acrylic paints (your choice).  Learn composing a setup, lighting, creating shapes and form, values, color mixing, with information on non toxic materials. We will also do landscape paintings that will be from on location and/or photographs. You will work on your own special project or the project of the day that I provide.   All levels welcome, some experience helpful. Our style is painterly and spontaneous.

SUMMER CLASSES - NO GRADES, JUST FUN LEARNING........

"Paint the Portrait and Figure in acrylic or oil paints"  Three Sundays, 10 am-1:30 pm. THIS CLASS IS OFFERED AGAIN IN NOVEMBER. 

Held at the Santa Rosa Junior College.  These classes will give you the basics of learning to draw in proportion, color mixing of flesh tones and the process of painting a portrait and gesture painting of the clothed figure. I will be demonstrating techniques, giving lectures and one on one help at your easel.  (easels and models provided).  Basic supply list given upon registration at the JC.  No grades, just jun learning. "Watercolor Basics and Beyond" Sunday August 13, 10 am-3 pm

This one day indoor workshop will focus on the basics of watercolor with lots of demonstrations, projects and methods of painting in watercolor.  Subjects include flower still life, landscapes, simple figure studies, and noj grades.  A minimum supply list will be given at time of registration.  You can also contact me for more information.  Contact the Junior College Community ed (see above information to register). $89.

 

ADDITIONAL FUN EVENTS TO FOLLOW:  These are non Instruction

Each month on the second Monday, 11-2 pm, I facilitate a 3 hour one long figure pose session held at Chroma Gallery on A St. Santa Rosa.  This is either dressed or nude, and no instruction; bring your supplies, an easel, and enjoy the day practicing painting the figure or portrait. Come if you can; $$15.00 ea. for the model.

Donna's classes are limited due to her busy painting schedule for shows and exhibits.  It is best to sign up when you see a class or workshop that interests you. This oil painting was from one of my Yosemite Painting truips.  Unfortunately after 10 years of wonderful, fun and adventurous trips to Yosemite I will not be doing it this year, but possibly sometime in the future.
